They Fight over Scotch Eggs and Forget About Kent

The 21 month Brexit transition period ends in 30 days. So far there is no deal, despite it being ‘oven ready’ as we were promised: that was another Boris Johnson lie, lying there on top of his whole mountain of lies.

The people of Dover & Kent need a Brexit deal. Endless queues means logistical chaos. It means clogged rat runs around town. It means pollution creeping into our lungs, affecting children, asthmatics, those prone to bronchial infections, those who already struggle to breathe. It means longer ambulance waits. It means worse health outcomes. It means every movement becomes harder.

The solution is not extra traffic police at the Duke of York’s roundabout; the solution is not lorry parks in Whitfield that create only a handful of extra jobs, whilst everyone else loses theirs as the town economy crashes to new lows. The solution is simple, a deal. A full-fat, customs-flow-enabling deal. Anything less is a betrayal of the people of Kent.
